Why Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro joined a protest calling for a military coup

They're making a big fuss on tv about Bozo joining this "protest" today where his supporters called for the end of social quarantine measures and for a military coup. Creating a narrative where progressive forces have to direct their attention to the supposed military coup and not to neoliberalism.

IMO he does that for two reasons: 1) it helps him strengthen his deep base which is all he has left now that "unbiased" democrats who voted for him out of anti-PT brainwashing are "regretful"; 2) it caters to his idea of society which is an anarchic, chaotic society where small militia groups like the ones he's involved with can thrive.

Bozo has been a congressman for 30 years. He likes democracy. He loves small-scale conflict where people are shouting bullshit over each other like 5th grade kids. Neither he or the military want no coup. He has no plan of action for the state and the military are already deeply entrenched in his government holding important offices controlling high earning jobs. they can't be arsed to actually run the country and deal with all the work that comes with it, and if they were to do that they would have to carry all the blame for the failures of the economy. Bozo joins these protests because that's where his last supporters are and because it creates a chaotic environment with democratic institutions having to respond to these lunatics. he (de)evolved into a post-neoliberal Frankenstein that is not proposing a minimum state anymore; his project is to destroy institutions and install a non-state society where his fascist militias can take over power and act where the state is not present. all under a democratic guise, with the blessing of financial capitalism.

Put Lula back in charge. Make Brazil great again
Lula deferred to financial capitalism when he had the chance to perform some structural change in the country. had close to 80% of approval and the Congress eating in his hand and failed to free social policy from private interests. Private education and health companies thrived during his run while citizens collected debts (education) and/or paid for health care that didn't cover anything.

Still, make no mistake about it, he was the best president we've ever had.

Hard time to be a right wing politician these days, I feel for him.

They never lose. If history has taught us anything, it's that they'll actually find a way to justify more spend cutting for finances and less social rights for the people after the coronacrisis - And people who gain nothing from it will support them for no reason.

The education gap in your country is shocking. If you're rich and your parents can afford a nice private school in Zona Sul or whatever the upper class area of São Paulo is, you can get an education equal to or better than an education in North America or western Europe. But if you're poor then you're barely literate.

We dont have that gap here in the U.S. Sure we have smart people and stupid people but standardized testing narrows the gap significantly in comparison to Brazil.

i genuinely think that Bolsonaro is driving the country in to crisis so he can seize control. It's the only thing that makes sense at this point.
cases and deaths are going way up, even though they're testing almost no one.

it's crazy.

he is already in control. all his reforms are supported by Congress. he is in line with the real people who run the country (big business owners from FIESP - Industrial Federation of São Paulo). They're all in league advancing reform after reform taking away every single social rights from the people. There is no reason for a coup.

He is just literally a fuckin idiot, used by these neoliberal people to advance their reforms, at the same time using them to have his glory day and advance his own agenda. he really believes that there is an international communist alliance and that the Brazilian republic was built by a leftist coalition that needs to be destroyed.

State governors and city mayors. Supreme Court allowed them autonomy. at least that, while the Health Minister was advocating the quarantine; now Bozo replaced the Minister. they're probably beginning to slowly lift the quarantine.

yeah poor people in Brazil are fucked. They basically live like glorified slaves that are allowed to go home at night after a 2 hours bus ride.

Bolsonaro's base is Sau Paulo, no? what do you think will be the pivot if things go as bad in Brazil as they have other places that shunned social isolation? Blame India? Blame the commies?

Gosh.

Why does that sound so familiar?

Sad, the rich will definitely get richer as a result of this virus and shit heads like Bozo there will definitely take advantage.

It is just funny seeing his policy on it completely at odds with common sense and supporting the fucking idiots.

Same shit with Trump, he has to call the lockdown protestors heros because those retards are his base.

Lie with dogs and all that

He was born in the state of São Paulo but his political base is Rio de Janeiro, with the militias and all.

I'm not sure what he would do in that case, or even if he would do anything at all. A few hundred thousand dead poor and elderly is great business for him. Plus, he's left with only his deep base supporting him ideologically. These are people who can't think for themselves, will eat shit if he tells them to, so he has no commitment to common sense anymore.

Bozo already dicktucked last night, said he didn't mean nothing against the other powers, respects the Constitution, yada yada yada.

Among many other bad qualities, he is a coward. You can't count how many times in his short run as president he has said something outrageous then came back the next day denying he said that, claiming he was misinterpreted. Like a child caught lying, literally does not stand for what he says.

the State's Attorney, who is a known bolsonarette, has asked the Supreme Court to investigate sunday's incident, without citing Bozo who was the one guy who turned it into a big thing. I'm not sure one thing interferes with the other but the Supreme Court has an investigation on Bozo's son who's a Senator and is accused of money laundering and providing political aid to militians that are deep neck into criminal activity. Anyway it definitely fits into the line of thinking that Bozo just wants to create chaos.

Bolsonaro is a failure of the human experiment. God ran out of the mold to make well functioning people the day he made him, put some brain parts in the wrong places. resulting in that the man can't perform basic cognitive tasks. it wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't the president of a huge country.
