I didn't realize that the most consecutive hw title defences was 2. That's both interesting and kind of sad. I wonder if that's because an athletic, skilled hw has not yet come along to toast that record or the short runs are due to the how heavy the hands in that division are.

Well, unless he's facing a 100% Cain for his next fight, I think Stipe will finally be the one to break that record.

There are rumblings that Ngannou may get the next shot, and I can't see him getting past Stipe. Not like this. Ngannou is a beast and could be the future of the division for sure (4 years younger than Miocic and I think he's one of the youngest in the top 15), but he's not getting gold yet.

No doubt about it, I never count a heavyweight out of a fight because one punch can do it. Ngannou certainly has the first and second round power to do it, but we haven't seen him face an elite threat yet so who knows what will happen. I'm in if it happens, but it might be too much too soon.
