I was thinking Khabib has enormous strength but he doesn't have big muscles or is very muscular..

Absolutely you can. Muscles are obtained naturally by training but that doesn't mean they will be big or defined muscles. Building muscles is also a look some go for. Powerlifters are huge and very muscular but carry a ton of BF so you just can't see it. For example if you good Zydrunas Savickas you will see a before pic of him weighing almost 350 lbs and he recently cut down for various reasons and you can see how much muscle he was carrying.

Strength is effectively a product of muscle size and a neural component. If a person has a powerful neural input, they can be stronger than someone with bigger muscles.

That can be natural talent and also developed through training the movements. Kabib has both.

"Strength = muscle cross sectional size multiplied by neural content" which is what youre saying and Ive yet to find anyone who gets shit that disagrees.

Another way to put it OP is that you know that skinny but really strong guy on the mat? well he'd be much stronger if he had much bigger muscles.
