the NDP introduced a tax on vacation properties that was supposed to sort this out. prices have about doubled since then

My mortgage was up for renewal a few months after the "Stress test" was introduced. I asked the agent how it had impacted home sales. He said that under the new guidelines they were selling more expensive homes than they ever had before. Basically no first time home buyers qualify so they all use their parents as co-signers. Because the parents have assets the pre-approval amount goes up which in turn raises the prices of houses.
