Immediately following the BMF title this Saturday the UFC is serving to hungry fight fans,
DAZN again serves up those same fans and others with the nightcap in the flavor of World Championship Boxing as 3-division champion
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez moves up to LHW(175) to take on the aged but still skilled and much larger noted champion
Sergei "Crusher"Kovalev.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sergei, who started his career going 30-0-1 while retaning his WBO LHW belt through eight title defenses and wore the IBO, WBC, and Super WBA championships along the way, was served his first defeat against the undefeated Andre Ward in a controversial split decision(114-113 x 3) victory who most analysts thought lost the fight to Kovalev in a "hometown decision" that saw Ward get put on the canvas in the 2nd round.
Controversy did not end there as Kovalev, who had an immediate rematch clause in the contract, completed arduous negotiations that saw him getting no base pay(only ppv and gate%) and a no rematch clause, in a fight billed "NO EXCUSES", and ended by referee stoppage after Kovalev took a good strike in the 8th round followed by several shots including a low blow. On the record, Kovalev now owned a 30-2-1 record. At the time of the stoppage 2 judges had Ward up 67-66 while the other had Kovalev winning 68-65, and landing 95 punches to Ward's 80.
Sergey followed that fight with 2 straight TKO victories which regained him the vacated WBO, IBA & innaugural EBP LHW belts as well as tallied a defense of the belts.
Following was Kovalev's first non-controversial defeat against another Alvarez in the undefeated(24-0) Eleider who put Kovalev on the mat 3 times in the 7th round in a fight Kovalev was winning steadily.
Another rematch clause saw Kovalev win a solid unanimous decision after hiring renowned trained Buddy Mcgirt, and Kovalev again regained the WBO LHW strap.
Kovalev's last fight just 2 months ago was a defense against the tough undefeated Anthony Yarde(18-0) where he retained his belt with an impressive TKO victory in the 12th round.

Canelo, who needs no introduction to even the most casual boxing fan, is coming off 2 victories in the form of TKO to Rocky Fielding, and a competitive contest albeit unanimous decision victory to the always game
Daniel Jacobs of New York in may, which saw Canelo retain his WBA (Super), WBC, The Ring, and lineal middleweight titles, and won the IBF middleweight title.
