Officers said the "small forest" of plants covered an area the size of a football pitch and was complete with a gazebo
Scores of cannabis plants have been discovered growing in a remote area of disused land in south-west London.

Police found the cannabis patch, covering an area the size of a football pitch, after a call from a member of the public in Kingston.

They found more than 150 plants, some more than 5ft (1.5m) tall. The plants are to be destroyed.

PC Sarah Henderson said it looked like "a small forest of Christmas trees and was complete with a gazebo".

The plants were found near Lower Marsh Lane.

"Whoever set this up used a really remote spot - the only way to get there was a 20-minute walk through wasteland.

"But all their time, trouble and gardening skills will go unrewarded, as the whole lot will now be destroyed by police," she said.

There have been no arrests and inquiries continue, the police said.

only a 20 minute walk off the beaten path to get to over 100 plants? I would make that walk over an hour and certainly not in the city!!

I am glad that fucking idiot got caught.

I have been in the middle of no-where BC miles and miles of wilderness in any direction and I find abandoned grow ops with ease. what the fuck was that person thinking of making something that big only about a km away from the public??

again....fucking idiot.

nuttyness!

Reminds of a similar story from a few years back:

Grizzly drug lords: Black bears found guarding 1,000 marijuana plants in British Columbia

At least the task of high security was something they could bear.

A group of black bears have been found acting as guards over a marijuana plantation in British Columbia.

The ten bears were found last August when police conducted a raid of a pot plantation at Christina Lake in south-eastern British Columbia, Canada. The property’s owner, Allen Wayne Piche, was allegedly paying the bears in dog food to guard some 1,000 marijuana plants.

Grizzly Guards: Canadian police found ten bears guarding a marijuana plantation last Summer. The bears, who guarded some 1,00 plants, were paid in dog-food.

Piche, who has proclaimed himself the 'Bear Dude,' was charged with feeding dangerous wildlife on his property. As yet, there have been no drug charges laid out.

I remember that as its not far from where I live.

pure insanity and the ULTIMATE cover for your plants really. like, who wants to go hiking around and encounter a bear?

I HATE how he sentenced those bears to death. but kudos to him for executing the wacked out theory essentially flawlessly.

I'm more impressed that there is wilderness in London that is not a park.
