The UFC's return to Vancouver just picked up a stellar main event thanks to a late audible by the promotion.

UFC on Fox 21 in Vancouver just got miles better, but UFC 202 had to give up a marquee bout for that to happen. With the August 27th show lacking a main event, the promotion has decided to move Demian Maia vs. Carlos Condit back a week to serve as the headliner. Neil Davidson of The Canadian Press broke the news:

Carlos Condit-Demian Maia bout shifted from UFC 202 to main event of #UFCVancouver show Aug. 27.

My guess is that it will be a five-rounder now, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Condit (30-9) is coming off a razor-thin loss to Robbie Lawler in an epic UFC 195 welterweight title fight. He had talked retirement…

Ha! Looks like they are giving Condit an extra 2 rounds to hopefully finish Maia. That's cool with me, Maia should be punished anyway for not responding to the legendary stun gun kim's multiple challenges

Maia dun goofed accepting the change.

I had it 60-40 Condit in 3, now 80-20 in 5. Condit is dangerous as a motherfucker right until the final bell. Maia needs a finish, now way the gas tank holds for a 5-round UD.

Pretty slick post zuffa move. Sold tickets for 202 last week with that as one of the featured fights. Now with tickets for Canada going on sale tomorrow you resell the fight to a new audience.

Good move. Hate to see Condit in anything but 5 round fights after watching him get robbed against Hendricks.

They knew conor vs diaz would draw no matter what so they moved it to please fox. Even if they did it right off the bat it wouldn't affect ticket sales or ppv buys, imo. Just makes 202 a weaker card.

Sucks if they lose ppv points, which they may both have being former champions or championship contenders.

This is good for Condit and bad for Maia. Condit may still lose the first 2-3 rounds and come back and finish a tired Maia in the 4th or 5th. Maia looked exhausted in R3 against Rory.

Hell, Maia looked exhausted in round 2 let alone 3 after controlling round 1. His gas tank isn't great at the best of times, but something was obviously wrong for that fight. Rory dodged a bullet.

Lol no. Nothing was wrong. Rory had excellent TDD, a better gas tank, and superior striking. Also he was able to get back up after getting taken down in R3.

That's what happened.

He doesn't normally gas that easy. Rory did well in round 2, but he gets taken down again if Maia wasn't already struggling.

Gotta give the advantage to Condit now. He's got insane cardio and never gets finished. Will be interesting to see if Maia can control him like others.

Condit can hold his own on the ground I think
I think we might get a mostly standup victory for carlos...likely a decision or TKO of a gassed or beaten up Maia
