Donald Cerrone is all about chasing that paper. And it sounds like he isn't too happy with where he's at in the race.

After being read a list of his impressive accomplishments in the UFC, "Cowboy" slammed the promotion -- with a smirk on his face -- about how much he's getting compensated. Just a few hours earlier Saturday, Cerrone had walked over welterweight stalwartPatrick Cote en route to one of his most impressive wins.

"God, that all sounds nice," Cerrone said at the UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Thompson post-fight press conference. "According to my pay, I don't mean sh*t to the UFC. But we'll see. Maybe I'll talk to [UFC president] Dana [White] after this and see if we can figure that out."

I've been thinking this for years, yet withheld judgement since the posted fight purses, allegedly, don't tell the whole story. Now the ufc is being sold, donald decides to speak up. Playing company guy has really cost him quite a bit of money. Discuss.

Nate Diaz called him out on it last month.... guess he's probably thinking about it now.
Cowboy should be a bajillionaire based on his record and willingness, but U Fight Cheap.....

Yeah well, ain't nobody gonna gift you shit just like that, you gotta stand up for yourself and negotiate too. Find out how much you mean to the UFC.

I completely agree. The problem is that fighters felt the pressure of "being loyal", otherwise bad things might happen. Chael talked about this when offered a WWE contract. He said if he brought it up with the ufc they would have matched the contract but then he would be considered not being loyal. I'd imagine he thought he would get special treatment after his career (liddell or hughes type jobs?).

I wonder if that is really what he thought though, you never know with Chael. It sounds pretty short-sighted (even though he thinks about the future, I know), but there aren't a lot people shunned by the UFC, and if so, then not for simply negotiating I think.
They surely try to squeeze and play hardball, but in the end I think they understand that everybody wants their piece of the cake and don't take it personal. Just another day in the office.

Came to say this, Nate said Cowboy was hurting all fighters by fighting so much for so little. I can actually picture Dana's face after him hearing this.

I was so confused when the UFC fined him for wearing that tiny flag on his shorts. Why? He literally does anything you ask. Why not give your most active fighter who has bailed you out on numerous occasions with last minute fights a bit of leeway? He's earned it.

Considering his ridiculous talent the UFC never really put him front and centre. If I was him I'd go elsewhere. He'd be able to draw a huge purse with additional from sponsors. Some of which he already has.

Although having heard him speak on podcasts he doesn't seem like the smartest dude. His attitude is amazing, but he'll be broke so soon after fighting ends. Always going by his grandma's opinion, drive it till the wheels fall off, not the smartest but fantastic to watch

He once said something funny about 1 post fight bonus money. When asked whether he would buy sth like a new jetski or just blow it on fun activities he basically said: "Yeah yeah, it's already gone... - like a fart in a hurricane :D"

Weird coming from him, because he was just on TFATK defending his pay to Big Brown and how Zuffa set him up with so many sponsors that pay him a yearly salary like HD and Monster.

Dude is definitely underpaid imo.

Which does help but not in the long run. It's like accepting a job with a less than ideal salary and being promised bonuses and perks to compensate. It never works out as good as simply making more money.

Cowboy is the most active fighter I've ever see on. He should get paid, but he is the one who has to negotiate the deal. Money ain't falling on your lap

Thinking about recent UFC news, the revenue distribution disparity is probably gigantic. McDonald getting less than 60k to show for his fight vs lawler. All the while the UFC looking To sell for over 4 billion.

I'm sure those number are waking a lot of fighters up. How the hell can fighters like Rory Mac or cowboy be making anything less than 6 figures to show when the UFCs value has increased to over 4 billion in 15 years time?

Zuffa truly making out with the absolute lions share of the revenue, while fighters are bleeding for peanuts.

I don't think he is a stupid guy. I think between that and Nate's (completely accurate) comments, he might have started thinking about it.

Good for him, now is the time to do it if ever. After a performance like last night, I'd give him anything he asked for.
