i am into old school shaving with a blade and a safety razor. its cheaper and way better than that fushion shit.
10-20 cents a blade instead of dollars, way better for your skin without burn or rash.
i have embedded two beginners clips so you get an idea

if you have any questions, shoot away.

In for later viewing. I've been interested in this for a while now so this should be helpful.

I'm all about this. Now, granted I grow facial hair like a 13 year old boy, but I'll never go back to the old plastic razors again.

Some links to the "go-to" tools of the trade:

Merkur HD:

Astra Russian Cheapos that are a great bang for the buck:

Badger Brush

Are you new to double edge shaving? Should you go out and buy all this right now? FUCK NO.

But these are great starting points for some quality items if you want to pick up the razor and blades. Or get a pack of mixed blades and find out what you like.

I've gone from using 100 bucks of mach 3 blades a year to using 9 bucks of these Astra's.
I don't really buy into the total hype of DE shaving -- you won't look younger and cure your acne -- but you will save a shit load of money, get a closer shave, and feel like a stud every time you shave instead of it being this annoying thing you have to do.

I lost my razor... I'm slumming it with free razors from Sheraton hotels right now. Gillette has really bribed their way to be stocked everywhere. Even drug stores have stopped carrying safety razors.

Got the same merkur and astra blades. Work great. I recently switched to an electric shaver because the shaving cream/soap dries the fuck outta my face.

It's quicker to shave with an electric and its tough to notice a difference in the closeness of the shave.

Did you try a lot of different cream/soaps?

I just spent another $16 on 4 Fusion blades. These old school blades scare the shit out of me though. I'll have to look into this.

This entire post could be summarized as: "IN!"

the cartridge system doesn't really shave, its more pulling especially for heavy beards.

I can't grow a thick beard at all. Best my babyface can do is a heavy scruff. I never have trouble with the cartridges, but they are damned expensive.

I haven't shaved regularly in years. Just electric. This could be an inspiration to let go of the scruff.

Because I read a lot of tinder girls like guys with beards, and I am at a job where I don't have to shave and it doesn't affect my job security, I'm growing out a beard. I haven't shaved in 5 days and it's in the itchy phase now, but I am pretty determined to let my shit grow out travis browne style.

I shave in the shower with a bics (pen company) 3 blade disposable....Except i dont dispose of them for months on end. Defense Soap is my shaving cream. I shave every second day.

The months on end thing doesnt work for every brand. Gillettes have like a week long life span. Fuck that noise. I found that bics works for as long as i want them to work.

This exactly. Safety razor scares the shit out of me like a strait razor does. I use them 5 bladed fusion joints. Are they anymore dangerous than a vibrating, head pivoting and flexing fusion blade?

Bought a safety razor this week it's so sharp but a lot nicer to shave with. It's going to take some practice I cut myself a few times but less than I expected lol

I ended up buying one of those safety razors on Amazon Prime Day just because it was on sale. Worst shave of my life. Tried it a few times and it's definitely not for me. Why go backwards in technology? It doesn't make sense. Tried the Dollar Shave Club after that too and their blades are dull as shit. I'll be using my multi-blade Fusion until the next big thing comes around. Worth every penny, imo.
