I think we have to consider Hanlon's Razor here - “never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity”.

There's been a trend for some years now to write things in an idiotic fashion, sometimes with words reading top to bottom, right to left like the now infamous "Rawe Ceek" poster for the 2020 British Formula 1 Grand Prix:



I think marketing departments / PR consultants try to deliberately make things harder to read as they think it will result in people taking longer to look at their advertisement.

Personally I just think they tend to look shit.

So my answer to your question is probably neither racism nor clever marketing, in fact way more likely to be crappy marketing by someone who thinks they are being clever.
