In an interview with Submission Radio, the UFC bantamweight prospect spoke about Dillashaw's departure from Team Alpha Male and subsequent comments made by the former UFC champion about Garbrandt wanting to train with Dillashaw at Elevation Fight Team.

"I saw him at the Arnold Classic when I was there signing shit and almost had to go say some shit to him but on my better judgement, I didn't...Anyways, long story short, no that was f**ked up. What he was trying to do was recruit people. Go out there, take them from their teams to go and help him.'

"TJ, that motherf**ker tried to take some of our teammates you know...If our team ain't good enough for you motherf**ker then get the f**k out. Don't be trying to take our team, take our training partners if you don't believe our team is good. That shit pisses me off man. That's some f**ked up shit.'

"Then he wants to say some shit about my uncle. Like ‘oh he left his family to come out here.' Hey stupid motherf**ker my uncle comes out here, trains me, comes to the fights, I never left him. I know what loyalty is dude...Don't ever say I left my family dude. That's some bullshit. You left your family and your friends here to go to Denver, Colo. and look what that got you. You got your ass beat."

"I'm sure the next time I see him we are gonna have some f**king words for sure."

muchos gracias senor.
I see a lot of natural fluidity and balance along with good vision. I don't see much in terms of head movement and combos but moved in and out of range well enough. One thing I'm not sure about is how he looks to one shot his kicks, there wasn't a lot of continuity in them with his punches. But he certainly is gifted in power and movement.

ok...but those are physical gifts he has developed- how does he actually fight?
Good crisp boxing. Improving TDD. He did get wobbled by Henry Briones which might be an indication of his ceiling, yet, he is a dangerous opponent for anyone.

Cody has mentioned a few times that he's better at creating angles compared to TJ. I think TJ is actually much better at creating angles going on the offense based off their performances.

I wasn't planing to look into Cody's style, but since that footage of him vs Brimage is there, I couldn't help myself but take a look at his performance.

For one thing, he's pretty good at throwing the short hook counter when he's in the pocket.

one of his favorite offensive approaches is the cross into a lead hook. Only opening I see is that he brings his head up the centerline with the lead hook. Almeida does the same thing and brad picket ended up dropping him because of it. Brad drops Almeida off his lead hook.

his kicking execution isn't quite developed enough yet. He can throw the kick, but has poor defensive awareness afterwards. He constantly gets caught in sequences that TJ would normally not get caught from.

a slight difference in TJ's kicking technique is that he raises the guard up while the other arm is used to push block to keep they away. A two layer defense to protect himself against after kick execution.

Cody's striking defense is just about on par with TJ's striking defense, but TJ does has a lot more fights in the UFC by comparison. I suspect that his striking defense percentage will drop below TJ's over time if his current tendencies stay the same. His head movement might get him in trouble.

Very bitter.

It's best for Team Alpha Male to move on from his departure. TJ is the only one to have held a UFC championship belt from that gym, so he must be doing something right. Lastly, the fight game isn't a team sport, in order to grow as a fighter you have to move around anyways.
