General Concord video game "shut down"

I was going down a rabbit hole on YouTube trying to see what the PS5 pro is all about and I started getting video recommendations for concord PlayStation game shutting down . I don't know anything about it other than it was 8 years and 100-300 million dollars wasted. Some are suggesting a recent price increase in the PS5 controllers were to recoup some money from the massive disaster that this thing was. Also I read that it didn't help that it was woke. Any truth to that?

How can they be that out of touch to go all the way, release it and then refund everyone's money and pull the game almost immediately anyway? There have been some miserable launches, but if they release it then they generally push through it and promise updates and patches. Were they hoping that nobody would notice how bad it was or did they actually think it was good? Nintendo will have a game almost finished after years of development and then scrap it and start completely over rather than release it and suffer embarrassment.
