Conor McGregor says UFC 189 will compete with Mayweather vs. Pacquiao PPV buys - Bloody Elbow

Conor McGregor is on a tour hyping his UFC 189 fight with Jose Aldo, and it seems that he let the hype slip into the ridiculous with a comparison to Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao is the fight that combat sports fans have been looking forward to for years. It will finally go down on May 2nd and will almost surely be the biggest PPV event of all time, dwarfing anything that the UFC has done to date. That's not stopping Conor McGregor from comparing it to his UFC 189 bout withJose Aldo though. Seriously......

I could see competing with UFC 100 or Silva vs Weidman.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Only Obama vs. Putin vs. Ahmadinijad vs. Netanyahu in a 4-way round Robin match with Xi Jinping as referee, competes with Floyd/Pac.

I think this comment is just to try and get it picked up by mainstream news, even if it is to just call the statement ridiculous. I don't think anyone is going to buy it, but it could spark interest in casuals who know about Floyd v Pacman, but have never heard of Aldo and Mcgregor. Only in the sense that they might try to find out who this 'idiot' is, that is comparing his fight to the biggest combat sporting event in history. I may be reading to much into it. lol
