i am getting sick about the push and hype conor gets and i actually like the guy, but the UFC has gone insane, he isn't even the champ yet and they push him even more than GSP.
The ufc has 500 fighters, promote them accordingly

As soon as Aldo beats him they'll be on Aldo dock talking bout how he just beat a God and is so under rated.. when they are the reason he is under rated due to lack of promotion..

Yea, man. It's really annoying. His schtick is way too over the top, too. He is less believable than a pro wrestler when he talks.

I sure hope Aldo makes it conviencing or finishes it because if it goes to decision there is no telling what dana will have the judges do. We have all seen some of the worst judging and scoring to date, but if this is close i would suspect to save the train they would rob cheat and steal it from Aldo

I agree i actually like conor but the way they are promoting this is the stupidest thing i've seen in a while.
I like controversy between fighters just as most fans but this horseshit they are trying to sell us is just ridiculous.

i kinda like connor for his style in the cage but he is super unproven at this point. how many times has a up and comer looked like a world beater in his first few fights in the ufc only to shit the bed when faced with the top 10?it happens all the time. i do not think he has come close to earning a title shot at all either.i went from wanting to see him fight to wanting to see aldo stomp a mudhole in his ass in a matter of weeks.he is so disrespectful and arrogant and the media push zuffa is giving him makes chael and ronda pale in comparison.this guy was literally collecting welfare in ireland a year or two ago and now he talks like he is gods gift to the mma world.i cant wait for aldo to kick his legs off

I was thinking about this yesterday, I feel like we're so far out from the event and having the tour/embedded stuff/interviews, etc so far in advance seems overkill. I got super fired up and now the flame is already burning out. Do they really expect folks to feel the hype for another 3 months?

In the opening moments of the UFC on FUEL 9 post-fight press conference, it was announced that the $60,000 Knockout of the Night performance bonus went to Irish Featherweight Conor McGregor, following his KO of Marcus Brimage in just 67 seconds.

And what does McGregor want to do with the money?

"I'm just happy I won $60K," said McGregor. "I'm just thinking on what I'm going to spend it on. I'll buy myself a car any way. A nice car, may be some suits or something. Custom made suits, I don't know.

"Just last week I was collecting the social welfare, you know what I mean? I was in there saying to them like, 'I don't know what going to happen. I'm signed to the UFC. I don't know what....blah, blah, blah.'

"But now I supposed I'm gonna have to tell them to f--- off!"

"I didn't have money before this... I was collecting 188 Euro ($245) a week off the social welfare. And now here I am, with like 60gs bonus and then my own pay. I don't know what the f---s going on to be honest, right?"

Every previous contender at 145 has had a win that is comparable or worse than a win over Dustin Poirier to get their title shot. Frankie Edgar hadn't even fought at the weight class before getting a title shot. In the standards set down by precedent in the division Conor has done enough to have a legitimate claim for a title shot, when you consider everybody else concerned would be a rematch. If you say he is too untested and hasn't faced a wrestler, then I would ask where were your same concerns about Chad Mendez before his last title shot? What elite striker can you point to that he beat that would say he had a shot at beating Jose Aldo?

The fact is not every aspect of every fighters game is tested before a title shot, that comes after. What a challenger has to do to get a shot is show that they are a legitimate threat to the title, either through moving up the ranks or having impressive performances. Ricardo Lamas would be a poster boy for the former and Conor Mcgregor for the later, but both are legitimate ways to get a title shot.

Jose Aldo vs Conor Mcgregor is going to be a very intriguing fight and it is a distinct possibility that Jose will lose the fight on the feet. If you believe this is going to be a blow out fight for either guy, you are sorely mistaken. It is very clear that Mcgregor hits hard and he has shown a myriad of ways in which to draw his opponent into over extending and leaving himself vulnerable. While Aldo isn't as flashy, he has the basics mastered and has made top guys look like they don't belong. However, he will need to dip into his bag of tricks against Mcgregor, since he has never faced a striker that is as good, and he does have more tricks, more leg kick setups, he just hasn't needed them. I, for one, can't wait.

Curious as to what magical things he'll say on The Fighter & The Kid tomoz. I'll def be listening, I still find listening to him entertaining for now even when he says ridiculous things.

Mark Hominick beat Gerorge Roop for a title shot.

Kenny Florian beat Diego Nunes.

Chad Mendes beat Rani Yaha and Nik Lentz for his respective shots.

Frankie Edgar hadn't fought at featherweight.

KZ got his beating Dustin Poirier.

Ricardo Lamas got his beating Eric Koch.

Similar to Weidman.
But, Weidman was 7th AFTER defeating Munoz.
And has at least taken out Machida, and a couple weird ones over Silva.
Pretty fly for a white guy....catch my drift?
*wink wink*

im not saying he isnt a good fighter but its a little soon to be calling him the irish muhammed ali. maybe when this is over he will be the champ or maybe he will be a chael sonnen.i would have liked to see him face mendes, cub, or frankie to say he has earned a title shot.

I seriously think everybody will be over this fight by July. It's getting annoying and its barely the first week of all this bullshit.

I suppose Dana, Aldo, McGregor et al have got one eye on Mayweather / Pacquiao and figure they've got to go big to get some attention?..

We used to complain it was all about Dana and the fighters didn't get enough of a push. Now they do and we complain. Not me, though. I'm loving the promotion for UFC 189.
