I thought Siver would have been awarded a takedown actually. I went to rewatch it off my pvr but it cuts off before it starts so I can't check. Either way Siver had Conor as close to a official take down as get gets more than once. The fight overall went as I expected, maybe a little longer than I thought it would.

Conor jumped right back up, but having Dennis Siver on you, and having Chad Mendes or Frankie Edgar on you, are two different things. I think Conor is VERY good, but I'm still curious to see how we will fare against Lamas, Mendes, Aldo...and most of all, Frankie Edgar. I truly believe Edgar will be his kryptonite, if no one else is.

Correct Conor got back up, but a take down is a take down and it seems they award those to whoever they pick and choose. Siver got Conor down but they don't want that as a statistic.

You have to maintain control after the takedown for it to count. Same thing happened with one of Cowboy's takedowns against Benson who popped right back up and there was no takedown rewarded. Also happened in the Jones/DC fight.

Ya that makes sense. I'm just actually surprised that Conor didn't stuff it completely. I can't help but assume if it wasn't a 35 year old 10th ranked guy it might have set up something that could lead to damage.

Absolutely, in that moment Conor was standing straight up and one of the top wrestlers in this divison would have double leg blasted his ass down to the mat and maintained top position. But I also dont think Conor would fight the same way against a respected wrestler as he did against Siver. It looked like he was just toying with Siver and showboating.

This
He didn't really finish a takedown.
