Daniel Cormier responds to the critics and says the heat of the moment might have got to him at UFC 200.

Daniel Cormier's reputation was on the line at UFC 200. After his biggest rival, Jon Jones, was removed from their light heavyweight title unification bout following a failed drug test, 'DC' took on one of the sport's biggest legends in Anderson Silva on short notice.

UFC gold wasn't on the line, but Cormier's standing as a top pound-for-pound fighter was. Instead of going for broke against Silva, Cormier resorted to his bread and butter Olympic wrestling to shut out 'The Spider' for three rounds. But still, something seemed off.

Cormier looked to tire as the fight wore on and seemed more tentative than usual. Speaking to Jim Rome in a recent interview, the UFC LHW champion…

Can't blame him.
Can't blame him for playing it safe either. Anderson is always dangerous.

The more I see and hear of him the more I like him.
So you want to see him more after his stinker of a fight against Silva at UFC 200?

If DC wants to fight like a businessman, more power to him.

But I know won't be chomping at the bit to watch a businessman fight.

In his defense, he only had 2 days' notice. Yeah I've seen him in some other boring fights and no I don't think he's the most exciting fighter on the planet, but he's capable of being a lot more exciting than the Silva fight showed.

Very honest of him. Starstruck and it must be intimidating, Anderson even out of shape has some of the most dynamic striking. I'd be starstruck and nervous, because you never know....

DC did what DC needed to do, just a shame for the spectacle. But that's the way it is. No problem for me. Chael is right though, he looks like a bit of a weak personality constantly having to defend it.
