If Sage's last fight took place under the ufc banner Dana would be making some excuse about sage being on his deathbed the morning of the fight with some unproven illness.

Try and see past that perfect dental structure, you see those cracks in his face?... They shouldn't be there.
He was always a mentally weak fighter, and the mental hurdle required to get past that injury, especially when you're a stand up fighter looking to trade strikes, is huge.
Dana's right, hes young, intelligent, charismatic, and already has a name for himself. Time to do something else.

Dana was also protecting him from the next level of fighters and not willing to give him a big pay raise in the next contract for some mysterious reason... It's almost as if he knew that Sage was in over his head when he started getting dropped by powerhouses like Mickey Gall and Bryan Barberena.

Sage is still young and talented. He may still have a future ahead. He was thrown in over his head in the UFC because they wanted a young beautiful and marketable fighter. When that didn't work he got cut. One threw him in over his head because of the name recognition he has from his UFC days, and to show the world they have some legit talent. If he wasn't so gosh darned handsome he could've worked his way up through the smaller shows and not just straight to the deep water. He probably has a chance to get some wins over there and work his way back to the UFC. Assuming he could stay on the right side of USADA of course.

I feel like they took a chance with Sage. Of course they’re going to push him if the numbers are trendy in that direction but once folks realized this guy wasn’t going to be some world beater the hype started to die down and the UFC cut their losses. Hate them all you want but the UFC knows when to cut guys and this was a perfect example. Most of the folks they allowed to go or let go on their own have not proven to do well in other orgs.

Dana is not wrong but something about him stating "this sport," it just seems as though he talks as if he's a fighter himself.
