Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Anderson Silva turned 45 back in April and has just one victory over the last eight years, a controversial decision win over Derek Brunson at UFC 208 in Brooklyn.

With just two fights remaining on the Brazilian’s contract, promotion president Dana White has to figure out a way to get “The Spider” matched up without getting him killed, while also finding an opponent to justify his $600,000 price tag....

Anderson was THE MAN in signing that 11 fight deal or whatever it was. The UFC thought they'd just have him locked in for life and he wouldn't be able to fight in other organizations. They honestly thought he'd fight probably 3 more times when the deal was signed. Game, Set, Match: Anderson.

How many fights was his deal? He was also smart since he worked in a flat payment instead of the incentive for half to show and half to win. More fighters should do that, but I suppose few have the leverage.

Anderson was a good fighter but he’s too old now. It’s over, shelve him until he backs out and retires.
I was shaking my head when they gave him a 7 year contract at that age. It was very similar to when the Maryland terrapins has one good season under Ralph Friedgen and they extended his contract to 8 years and well...........they did fuck all from then on after Florida showed them what elite level d1 programs are like and hammered the fuck out of them in that bowl game.

And for all who say “he’s the greatest of all time”......wake the fuck up, he’s not and never will be. He was a good fighter and then father time caught up to him right after he signed a contract extension.

Give him Weidman now.

A stiff breeze seems enough these days.

Y’all saying the man is “shot” and “past his prime” why? Cuz he lost by doctors stoppage to Masvidal?

He still has the best chin in MMA bar none, lesser men would’ve crumbled to Masvidal with those shots he took (see Till, Cerrone) yet he still survived and Masvidal low key started to gas by the fourth. Diaz was a punching bag but still had the presence of mind to scramble with him.

Also...Diaz damn near finished Pettis...what and had two classics with McGregor. Y’all some hating a** ho’s for talking down on mans like this.
