Unfortunately for Tony Ferguson, UFC president Dana White is still reluctant to declare ‘El Cucuy’ the next official No. 1 lightweight contender.

Speaking with Rich Eisen in a recent interview, White remained non-committal about confirming the UFC’s next lightweight title bout but teased that former two-division champ Conor McGregor could rematch Khabib Nurmagomedov upon his return, which White estimates will be sometime early next year.

“It’s a very interesting division because you have Khabib, you have Tony Ferguson, Conor McGregor, Donald Cerrone’s in the mix, Justin Gaethje - there’s just so many unbelievable fights in that weight class and Khabib keeps talking about fighting Georges…

My Dana-Translator (TM) app on my phone says:

"GSP is asking for too much money for the Khabib fight. Him and Ali better understand that there's a long list of other guys we could contractually offer to Khabib.
Tony? Maybe if Poirer wins, lol! you know, after an instant rematch with Khabib and if Poirer wins that one too then it's McGregor next in line, because those two guys have history, too.
I miss the old days when I could simply talk shit directly about GSP during negotiations"

COnor should win somewhere first before talking about a rematch,

in his last 5 bout (including boxing) he's 2-3 (1 decision win, 1 tko win, 2 submission loss, 1 tko loss...) 2 fight losing streak with mystic been gone for awhile now.

He no longer moves the needle either. Everyone knows what's going to happen when he rematch Khabib, who wants to tune in to that boring ass stuff?

I want to watch Conor vs other possible matchups, but not Khabib, at least not now.

right now, Nate Diaz is moving quietly under the radar. If Nate beats Pettis, he's going to sneak his way into a fight vs Khabib, except I don't know which weight that will be at.

Conor should definitely win before he gets a title shot but I don't think his boxing record matters when we are looking at his career progression in MMA.

yea i know just want to throw that on there to show how much of a losing streak he's on and faded from people's minds, Conor fights won't do million buys anymore. We've seen him lose dominantly, he lost the fire long ago when he made the 100mil. I doubt he will come back the same ever.

I don't know man. It's very possible that he could sell million PPVs without the ESPN. The casuals seem to be pretty interesed in him still and after all they are the ones that buy the PPV

really? I feel like the casuals are the ones who lost interest because of the losing streak.

I think the casuals started paying attention to Conor for the Floyd fight, witnessed him getting owned but was like, "at least that's not his sport..."
then they tuned in for Khabib fight, witnessed him getting owned and was like, "dayam, he suck at his own sport too..."

but that just could be my dumbass imagining things after getting too high

I guess there are levels to casuals

Casual - started watching Conor vs Floyd stopped after Conor vs Khabib
Super Casual - got on bandwagon when Conor was on a row, loves Conor win or lose, watch Conor all the time
MMA Casual - got on board after Conor beat Mendes, Aldo, then got off for a sec after Nate, then went back on after Alvarez, then off again after Khabib
Nuthugger Casual - only watch Conor fights, Conor documentaries, only read Conor news, follows Conor on IG, Tweeter, FB, claims to be Irish when not

I have to say, I would gladly watch Khabib Conor 2, fully knowing what would happen. Although much prefer seeing Tony get his shot- ffs how is he not fighting for the belt like right fucking now - this is getting silly.
