If Daniel Cormier is ever going to fight Jon Jones again, it sounds like he wants to make sure no one can say he did it the easy way. The former light heavyweight champion, and current heavyweight champ, is getting ready for a rematch with Stipe Miocic this August—who he dethroned a year ago to capture the belt at 265. And while he continues to suggest that he may not fight again after UFC 241, it sounds like his interest in a third fight with Jon Jones is growing.

At a recent UFC press conference, Cormier let fans know…

DC still teasing retirement, but says a Jon Jones trilogy bout ‘would have to be at 205’

Daniel,

Not only would fighting Jones at HW give you a much better chance of victory, but you could use it to goad him in to a fight at HW too. DC should be all over the airwaves calling Jones a pussy for not fighting at HW.

Instead he does this. Two natural HWs have to arbitrarily cut weight to fight each other, where it disadvantages the one insisting on it even more. What a strange world we live in.

Admiral of DC to want to get the win at the same wight he lost. However, Jon will likely beat him again at LHW. He will continue juicing while DC continues aging. This fight gets easier for Jones with each passing day.

Also, DC should stop thinking of Jon and worry about Stipe. He will have his hands plenty full.

Maybe he doesn't want to give Jon the opportunity to take all of his accomplishments in UFC

That's a good point. But in this case he should just stick to the 'I'm going to retire after the Stipe fight' narrative.

Let's not forget, taking the Stipe fight itself is a fucking retarded decision.

He's not exactly hitting home runs in the decision-making department.

Nope, it makes sense
He dropped many a man on his head at hw
The cut to 205 fucks his cunt and he hits like a sledgehammer at hw

Right, so then what happens when Jon doesn't have to cut weight? He was picking DC up with no issue at 205. At heavyweight he would be tossing DC out of the cage by your logic.

i don't know...JBJ hasn't looked amazing in his post-pulsing excuse fights. DC can make 205 and fight at the same level as before...not sure the same is true of Juicy Fruit...might be worse on him to keep fighting at LHW as he gets older.

D.C. wins at HW, that’s why Jon won’t fight him there.....if he could beat him he would agree to fight him there but he won’t

Unless Jones gains a huge amount of weight, DC cuts way more to 205 so I'd say a fight at 265 favors DC. Now I'm not saying DC would win but the whole not cutting should be more of an advantage for him

I don't even know why DC still legitimizes Jon by talking about him. He's the HW champ, he should go out the HW champ who only lost to an arrogant lying cheater.
In my eyes, Jon just lost to a one legged guy on the same diet with 70% of the attributes.
