"I think John McCarthy is a guy that is a great referee. He's a guy that he's kind of in the fight. You feel like there's a third guy. Herb will get out of the way. In some instances, you need a ref that will just stay out of the way, he's just there to protect you. But John does interject himself into the fight some with the open hands and certain things that Jones kind of does consistently. So I guess that may be where his complaints come from but I'm not exactly sure."

"Every referee has something that they do that someone will not agree with...Look April 23rd, if Herb Dean would have been the official I would've had to just nut up and deal with it. And that is exactly what Jones is gonna have to do on July 9."

Ok, someone enlighten me with chapter and verse proof. Are the open hands things against the rules?

Jones has this all calculated out. Hes trying to put big John in a tough spot.

Now if Jones does end up doing his usual fingers out thing and DC gets poked, big John might be hesitant to give a warning or take a point for fear of Jones crying and saying "see I told you he was biased!"

Jones is very conniving and deceitful.

Hopefully Big John doesnt recuse himself from the fight and gives Jones a stern talking to prior to the fight in the locker room.

Something along the lines of "regardless of your feelings about my abilities as a referee, im doing everything in my power to ensure a fair fight on my watch. If you start poking the eyes or threatning to poke, im taking a point".

You don't have to commit to a foul before you get a warning. I like the warnings and feel majority of refs shold start handing out point deductions after one or two depending on a bunch of different variables. I like how BJM let's fighters know that he's on to them if he sees something that could lead to an injury or advantage due to a rule violation.

What kind of losers are using the term "nut up"??!!
It sounds like something a porn director would say.

I can see that but that might be a bit of a slippery slope to deduct points for doing something that is not against the rules. That seems like it would end badly eventually. That said there needs to be something done to try and combat the more blatant eye pokes during fights, perhaps even more so on repeat offenders.

I assume this is a reply to my post? Just to clear I'd never want to see any sort of penalty unless a foul is committed. I'm just reading all sorts of posts from people who don't like how vocal BJM is and feel it's him trying to gain attention somehow. If guys are bordering the foul line let them you you're seeing it and if it escalates into an actual foul after then stop the action, one verbal warning then get into point deduction. I think it's the only way we will see a reduction in dirty play whether it's on purpose or not.

If it's not on purpose then it's not dirty.
Intent my not be but the end result is.

This scenario is similar to us modding many of your posts, habitually play on the "what? I didn't do anything technically wrong so why am I being talked to?...."

No surprise at your stance on this

It's one less thing that could mess up a fair fight under the rule set they've agreed to. The fight being called a n.c. based on a gouge (intentional or "not") is something no one wants.

Yeah it was, sorry I forgot to quote you. I misunderstood you then. I don't think I have a problem with what you're describing, though my pet peeve foul is probably the intentional fence grabs.

Agreed. Eye pokes and crotch shots are gonna happen, it's just how it goes in close quarters. Fence grabbing though seems to be instinctual and although it doesn't create as much a a hazard to a fighter it needs to get called more and points taken or at least restart the action if an advantage was gained from it.

Agreed. First one that always comes to mind is Aldo vs ... Was it Mendez several years ago.

Until a rule is made that says you can't extend an open palm, I don't want to hear it from these crybaby betas.
