All 20 First Nations sign Coastal GasLink pipeline agreement - The Columbia Valley Pioneer
Hard to guard thousands of miles of tracks, and if you shut down one area you shut down thousands of miles of commerce.
It's effective with minimal effort providing the state has no desire to stop you from causing a disruption.
I meant it from a signifihance perspective. Like, the WTC wasn't really that big a deal in the literal sense, but everyone knew what they symbolized, and in turn what an attack on them meant.
In this case, "We're mad about a pipeline, so we're keeping your wood!" doesn't make a lot of sense if you're making a statement.
SHUTDOWN: VIA cancels all trains, CN halts eastern operation as Legault demands Trudeau take action
we aren’t a real country and I love it
Sometimes you’re weird, but I still want you to come to Israel
It's not a symbolic move. It's strategic.
Canada depends very heavily on rail for the transport of many of their goods. I'm only talking lumber because it effects me.
Grain is spoiling as it sits on the rail. Farmers aren't getting paid. Parts of the country aren't getting fuel. Most of my posts in this thread have been tongue-in-cheek, but it's a fairly dire situation.
Sedalia Kawennotas, a Mohawk elder, told the Montreal Gazette earlier this week, “The only way they’re going to pay attention is if we hit them where it hurts: their economy.”
Legault asked way too much from Justin.
Bribing African countries to get a seat *oh wow*at the corrupt Un security council is more important.
Canada is back.
This is economic terrorism
The term economic terrorism or financial terrorism is strictly defined to indicate an attempt at economic by a group.
This could entail varied, coordinated and sophisticated or massive destabilizing actions in order to disrupt the economic and financial stability of a state, a group of states or a society (such as market oriented western societies or economies) or a trading exchange for ideological, monetary or religious motives.
These actions, if undertaken, may be violent or not.
Meanwhile Trudeau Is over seas, breaking bread with human rights abusers, trying to boost oil and gas there, meanwhile Canada is burning to the ground.
Ford is a shoe in for PM at this rate
It really is quite pathetic.
His country is in turmoil. Literally at an economic standstill. And he sends a letter asking for them to stand down? Fucking pussy.
My contact at CN is telling me the Manitoba blockade is over, and the BC blockade will be ending shortly.
The illegal Ontario blockade stands which means the Eastern side of the country is still fucked. They've completely shut down operations in the East.
I have a loaded car in Quebec that hasn't moved in 8 days.
Trudeau has to take action, and quick, but more than likely it will be more pandering
"Here's more money, here's more land, here's a safe space." Pierre Trudeau would've sorted this out without hesitation.
Justin has no balls.
There is no reason these protesters shouldn't have been hauled off to prison.
If Quebec runs out of propane, Trudeau will be on the first flight back to canada.
Sadly, people seem to support him and to vote for him because he's an effete, virtue signalling, metrosexual who doesn't want to offend anyone not in spite of it. Soon or later there was always going to be a price we had to pay for putting him in power and perhaps this can be our wake up call.
Those eternal welfare recipients.
What should we listen to honestly?
Most natives are trapped in a logic of dependency : receive the millions off the federal government and then.... Squander all the cash in ... *Insert native cliche*.
Most reservations in Canada have received cash in the hundreds of millions over the years yet have nothing to show for that's what pathetic.
And don't get me started on the Mohawk's.
They loooooove to play the victims yet practice a fair amount of discrimination themselves on their reservations. And let's not talk about the traffic t(guns drugs etc) on the akwesasne and oka reservations.
Fun fact : my former manager of several years at my job is native. From that small reservation in Quebec City. The Huron wendat nation. He told me his ancestors were traders (history books confirmed it) and they like to do business get stuff done to this day and they're proud of their history and success. He worked all over North America thanks to his native status.
He never was fond of the Mohawks who genocided most of the Hurons back then. They still talk about it. The Hurons have no sympathy for them. They can just moan and use intimidation like spoiled welfare recipients... With guns.
Write your elected officials. I'm dead serious.
Fuck this is funny
@Hauler why can’t you see the humour in this?
Because I'm about 11,000 studs short on allocations and my car is just chilling out on the railroad somewhere in Quebec. So now I have to buy from local distribution at about a 40% premium to fill orders.
Dude don’t be like that. It’s affecting us all. Gotta laff.
