Nate Diaz could be in some hot water with USADA.

Diaz might be facing a UFC anti-doping policy potential violation for vaping cannabis at the UFC post-fight press conference Saturday night in Las Vegas, MMA Fighting has learned. Diaz was vaping on the dais and, when asked, said it was CBD, or cannibidiol oil.

"It's CBD," Diaz said after his majority decision loss to Conor McGregor. "It helps with the healing process and inflammation, stuff like that. So you want to get these for before and after the fights, training. It'll make your life a better place."

Cannibidiol is one of 113 active cannabinoids in cannabis. Cannabinoids are banned in-competition by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code over a certain threshold and USADA uses WADA's prohibited substance list. In competition is considered the six hours before and the six hours after a fight. Diaz's appearance doing post-fight media was within that timeframe.

"I can confirm that USADA is aware of the situation and is currently gathering information in order to determine the next appropriate steps," USADA spokesperson Ryan Madden told MMA Fighting in a statement.

You're mad at Diaz? CBD doesn't even get you high. He could definitely be less careful but I'm more annoyed at USADA for this one.

I'm not mad at him, I do however think he's a dumbshit. The rules are the rules whether anyone likes them or not. Choose to play the game, play by the rules, that's not USADA's fault. If he legit had CBD in the vape pen, which would be no surprise to me, and the rules say no, well, sorry not sorry.

If you get an IV after a fight is it against the anti-doping policy?

I'm sure he will get a medical suspension so he wouldn't even be allowed to fight so if he's vaping then why should it matter? The fight is over. Sure he shouldn't be doing it where he is but it's not harming anyone. I half like what USADA is doing and half hate it. I'd love to know why in 2016 smoking a natural substance from the earth is punishable to a higher degree in some instances than using a lab made steroid. Get your shit straight.... and I don't even smoke weed.

If usada gets on his case about smoking ANY cannabis products after a tough fight, fuck them. They don't give two shits about people drinking beer at a press conference, and they most definitely wouldn't care if someone took asrpin. Both of those things kill people, cannabis doesn't.

His post fight test was already done before the presser, so I suspect he'll be fine here. Just USADA trying to show their ass because a fighter had the nerve to have a vape pen at a presser. They think it's a bad look, but that's the problem...it's none of their business what the perception of MMA athletes is. Their job is to test, and otherwise, stay out of the MMA business.

I agree fully he probably pissed for them, and thought fuck em, and on the other side McGregor won't fight him for a while, with a 2.000.000 dollar check in the backpocket of his jeans and the PPV points check he will be getting he probably doesn't give 2 shits if they make him sit out for 9 months.

It was pretty blatant during the press conference, so this doesn't surprise me. I'm more interested in knowing what they will attempt to fine him. Technically they could say this was "in competition " since it was the day of the fight. Pretty dumb move considering it is not only on the banned list, it's also an illegal substance in nevada.

You may be right, and I hope you;re right, but it's still a dumbshit move.... and just when he makes a decent payday, puts it at risk for being stolen by the crooks.....

Maybe he just wanted to ensure that he got some time off and wouldn't have to fight until he fights Conor again.... If so, good for Nate, smart move

Vaping in public wasn't the smartest choice. Have to remember what people you're dealing with at USADA, if you expect those folks to be the type to not want to bust your ass for just about anything for any reason, you're fooling yourself. They are vigilant types, on a mission to change the world and make it a drug-free place. They have a history of catching people like Lance Armstrong. They get their rocks off on this nonsense.

They might consider it a self-reported violation, but it's not illegal to lie to the press. All he has to do is say he lied. I haven't heard of any USADA morality test that you can fail (unless you actually just tell the truth; that seems to bite people in the butt pretty often).
