Diego Brandao released from UFC following recent arrest

Former "Ultimate Fighter" winner Diego Brandao has been released from the UFC just weeks after he was arrested following an alleged assault at a strip club in New Mexico.

Sources confirmed Brandao's release to FOX Sports on Thursday following an initial report from Sherdog.com.

Brandao was taken into custody on Friday, April 15 after allegedly getting into an altercation with security at a strip club before the fighter was accused of pistol-whipping an employee and pointing the weapon at others.

Brandao was arrested on charges that included aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault.

Those are pretty serious allegations. I'm not surprised that Zuffa cut him. He can always come back later if he gets it cleared up.

Pistol whipping can fuck someone up..........it ain't like the movies where they knock someone out with a pistol and the guy wakes up 8 hours later and he has a minor headache.......you could be seriously done after that.....ie long lasting repercussions.

Agreed. It's a fairly delicate term for bludgeoning the shit out of someone with a hard chunk of metal.

I think that's part of what got him to the game...........McGregor lit him up for his troubles but he was angry and thought he would but these things happen......

No choice there. They have to do it. Apparently new, humble Diego from after the Conor loss was short-lived. I can't think of many situations where pistol-whipping a security guard can be justified. That's caveman behavior.

You could tell when he was on TUF that he had a screw loose. I was a fan of his fighting style, he was sort of like a tiny Vitor Belfort.

Remember when he was crying on the mic saying how much he loved his momma and how much he wanted to buy her a house? He was a likeable kid back then but the money got to his head and that screw that's loose took over. See you in WSOF!!
