When I used to teach woundcare I tried to make clear to not trust the germacide or alcohol or whatever. To kill cooties you have to physically crush them. Soap and scrub, hard. Then diluted peroxide or betaine or whatever

Just remember nothing is sterile, not even an OR.

Clean, always allow to drain and airdry. Clean again whenever you don't like what you see. Be aggressive.
