Hilton CEO says he doesn't tip

The CEO of Hilton Just Made a Stunning Admission About the 1 Thing He Doesn't Do in Hotels

So a bunch of people that also don't tip freak out and accuse him of being rich and blah blah blah

Hilton CEO Changes Stance on Tipping at Hotels

    So now he'll tip.

Me? I don't usually tip them as there is rarely an opportunity for an increase or customization of service. I'd have to have left a real mess for me to feel that was warranted.

Tipping May Be the Norm, but Not for Hotel Housekeepers

    Apparently I'm in the majority:

No. Cunt maid threw away my fuel receipts and I had to risk my job by expensing them as tolls.

Do you tip the people at the sandwich shop when you are picking up a bag of food? It has a tip line there too.

I tip for 99% of meals, regardless of size or cost
5-6 dollar sandwich/burrito/tacos gets a tip for sure
Just how I roll, it comes back around in my experience

only time I don't tip on a meal is when the debit/credit card receipt has no tip line and I don't have cash in pocket(rare)...In that case I tell them sorry I don't have cash, and to get a tip line on their receipts so they can get tips

I always tip. Even in the Dunkin Donuts drive through. You can't tip on a debit card so if using a card I always toss them $1 cash. Makes me feel better.

I almost always leave $5 with a piece of note paper folded over it that says “Housekeeping- Thanks!”

when I travel for work I tip, because I can expense it and because they restock/freshen the room every day.

but when I travel with the family, I don't leave a tip. We have the 'no service' sign up for the duration of the stay because of the kids, and we do a good job of cleaning the room before we leave...pile up all the towels, take out the trash, wipe out the sinks, etc.

I travel regularly for work. Many trips are a single night. For most of the ones that are two night stays I forego housekeeping. In either of these scenarios I don’t leave a tip because there was no above and beyond service my stay caused. However, if I ever stay for multiple nights and my room gets serviced I leave a tip. If my family is with me, I leave a big tip. If Al Iaquinta is with me, I leave an apology note and a huge tip.

Always, 5-10 daily. I also tip other staff members if I ask for anything above what you normally get.

In every hotel or resort I have stayed in the staff have done things they shouldn't have or wouldn't do for others (golf cart rides to far places, picking my family up after they are supposed to be shut down, moved us into restaurants ignoring the line, giving our room extra alcohol, food, water ect..) because of the tips.

OTP gets it. I like having things done for me and being treated above and beyond. I am willing to pay for it and appreciate it.

I even tip my mailman on Xmas. The guy has done me so many favors already that he didn't have to.

I typically don’t ever hand the hotel maid cash but i leave behind left over beer - pop - (unopened) chips, snacks so if I buy a 24 case of Dr.Pepper and only drink 2 cans I’ll leave the extra 22 cans behind.

Also any dollar bills or change I have in my pocket I leave behind on the counter next to the tv.

I will also clean up my room before I leave to make it easy on the maid.
