Dolph Lundgren Reveals He’s Cancer-Free After 9-Year Journey: ‘Rough Ride’
Dolph Lundgren is officially cancer-free after undergoing his last procedure.
The Swedish actor, 67, who was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2015, posted a video on Instagram and gave a health update while laying in a hospital bed. The 67-year-old said he was undergoing a lung ablation, which is a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat or cold energy to destroy cancer cells without surgery.
“Here I am at UCLA, I’m about to go in and get rid of that last tumor,” he said. “Since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, I guess I’ll be cancer-free so I’m looking forward to this procedure.”
“It’s been a rough ride and really taught me how to live in the moment and enjoy every moment of life,” he continued. “I mean, it’s the only way to go.”
Lundgren added in his caption, “Finally cancer free with gratefulness and excitement for a bright future. Thanks for all your support always.

After the actor was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2015 — which he kept private for 8 years — he underwent treatment while continuing to work on films like Aquaman and Creed 2.
But after a tumor was found in his liver in 2021, Lundgrentold Entertainment Tonight that his doctor “started saying things like, ‘You should probably take a break and spend more time with your family and so forth.’”
“So I kind of asked him, ‘How long do you think I got left?’ I think he said two or three years, but I could tell in his voice that he probably thought it was less,” the action star said.
Admitting that he was feeling “depressed,” he sought a second opinion. His physician was able to treat his kidney cancer by targeting a mutation he had that is common in lung cancer, according to Dr. Alexandra Drakaki, his oncologist.
“If I’d gone on the other treatment, I had about three or four months left,” Lundgren told the outlet. “I couldn’t believe that that it would be that radical of a difference that within three months, things were shrinking by 20, 30%.”
From there, “2022 was basically watching these medications do their thing,” he said.
In October 2023, Lundgren said that his cancer “doesn’t really affect me" and he’s grateful for that.
“I mean, there’s no side effects. Every day to me is a blessing, and I really enjoy it, and I feel really good about that,” he said.
