This fight is not getting a whole lot of heat, once again due to the return of the GOAT king Jonny Jesus coming back on Saturday, but there isn't an MMA fan with a pulse who doesn't see the mountain of potential for magic that this fight possesses.
The former champion Lawler had one of the most entertaining reigns at the top in recent memory, but was floored by Tyron Woodley at UFC 201. He then did what many of us hoped he would- take extended time off. Was it enough, or have all of the miles finally caught up to him?
Donald Cerrone is one of the most-liked fighters on the roster, for good reason. He fights hard, and he lives, well... just as hard. After a great run at LW which ended with a complete thrashing at the hands of RDA, Cowboy has had a bit of a resurgence at WW. This is significant because Cowboy is missing a bit of his intestines, which likely made the cut to 155 a tough one for him. After 4 impressive wins at 170, he lost handily to Jorge Masvidal in his last fight, and is now coming off of a bout with Staph infection which pushed this fight from UFC 213 to this Saturday at UFC 214. How much will that affect him?
As I did in my Demian Maia vs Tyron Woodley thread, I will list both fighters twice. The top is who you WANT to win, and the bottom is who you THINK will win. I assume this one will be a bit harder for most of us.
