Redwoods was really nice, as was the drive from there to Crater Lake. More pictures to come whenever we get somewhere with good enough internet to upload photos.
I really need to get out and see more of California, Redwoods isn't too far from me at all.

sparkuri @sparkuri mysticmac @mysticmac Looks like we will be driving into Seattle tomorrow (Saturday) around 5-6 with the plan of driving by the space needle, then parking by the fish market and looking for a reasonable family/casual place to eat.

No family in Woodinville, it was just ~1/2 way between Rainier and Cascades. Wife is NOT a fan of camping, so it’s hotels for us on our trips.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make it.
However, even better(imo), if you can make it, I'll be nextdoor to the Muckelshoot casino in Auburn doing a firework show/demo. If you're unaccustomed to a war zone, it'll truly be an unforgettable experience. Not sure if you're into gambling or have reservations set, but there are availabilities as well as other options nearby. It's much, much closer to Rainier. In fact, it's the perfect day/location to catch awesome pics. I'll be there setting up from 1:30-start time. Demo & firework show 9pm-10pm. Warzone before and after, all day.
You & fam are welcome to come, as well as mysticmac @mysticmac . Food is on site.
Pm me if interested :)

If you are looking for family activities, stay away from the Fremont neighborhood as well as Gas Works Park. There WILL be naked people.

Tomorrow is suppose to be nice. If you are going to be around Pike's looking for a family dinner, you'll find a lot of places. If you are looking for something non traditional, check out Beecher's Cheese and grab some sandwiches while the kids checkout the cheese making equipemnt, then head over to the park about a block north to eat. You'll have a great view of the Puget Sound. If you want to grab a beer with dinner, checkout Pike's Brewing. The kids can checkout the brewing equipment along with the rest of the goofy stuff they have in there. Beyond that, it shouldn't be hard to find a good family spot.

If you eat around Pike's, check your bill closely before tipping. A lot of those places automatically include a 20% tip.

I just got back from a long ass road trip myself. Ohio to Denver (Rocky Mountains) via I-70 which took me through Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado. Roughly 18 hours. Driving through the countryside is fun, but I admit I got bored as fuck driving through Kansas. A few years ago I drove to Yellowstone. Took I-80 for that one, then cut up to I-90 so I could check out the Dakotas.

Have fun, bro! It's fun checking out this great country of ours first hand.

Be safe with your show. We have reservations set, so I will wave to you in that general direction as we pass by.

We wound up getting to drive the entire 101 loop around Olympic, and stopped at Ruby Beach, HOH rainforest, Forks (wife’s request due to that stupid Twighlight series) and Hurricane Ridge. Good day. We hit Ruby beach near low tide, so lots of tide pools to see marine life in, and the crystal clear sunny day made for great views and pictures at the rain forest and Hurricane Ridge.
Unexpected bonus for the physics fanatic in me- got to drive across the Tacoma Narrows bridge. Eating in Tacoma currently, will drive past the Space Needle and some tourist sites in Seattle shortly, then on to Woodinville. Meeting my high school/college buddy for breakfast, then Mt. Rainier tomorrow.
Hopefully our lodging has decent internet tonight and I can get caught up on pictures.

That's perfect, just pullin to the left of the Muckelshoot bingo and muckleshoot spoke shop. Then head straight back to where the gut trucks are philly cheese steak stands and all that there will be some caution tape and that's where I'm setting it off. PM me if you're having trouble
