This was the same talking point he used for every media appearance on the night, so I wouldn't call it 'doubling down'.

I can see them screwing Maia over specifically, but the shift in tone is encouraging. They clearly want to reassert control, realizing that having their entire roster of fighters whining about 'money fights' is a recipe for complete stagnation.

Dana saying it's going to happen is the farthest thing from actual confirmation. I won't believe it until that veign in Bruce Buffer's forehead is about to explode as he introduces Maia as the challenger.

even funnier is that Maia earned it...that fight was close as hell and not decisive in any way

Imo he earned it by taking another fight against a risky opponent instead of sitting out waiting for his shot, which he had actually already earned.

I can see that...not taking anything from maia
But if that fight was to see who was a better MMA fighter and to determine who gets a title shot then it determined nothing other than Both guys are hella good grapplers.

I like Finishes only....decision wins are draws in my book most often...unless massive damage has been done

I do think we are seeing a shift in response to the unrest of the fighters, media, and fans. That's encouraging.

Long overdue that they start fighting back publicly.
I think that it will be the end of Dana if a lot of fighters begin to do this. It looks bad for the company when the main guy is having twitter battles with his employees. But Trump does it on the regular and he runs the US so who the fuck knows.
