I quite often feel very fortunate that my eyesight is spot on and doesn't seem to have deteriorated. A few of my friends complain how blind they are, but my eyesight is much sharper than my missus'. I use my TV as a monitor for my TV so I just display the desktop directly on the TV, and it amuses me that I can easily navigate around File Manager and read individual file names from the couch, and she can't.

If it helps, I am deaf as fuck. Though I think that's more due to a couple of pretty bad ear infections as a baby, rather than age.

I have a 21 year old colleague who I get on well with. A few weeks ago, I made some random Game of Thrones reference. She looked blank, and said "Obviously I know what it is, but I never watched it."

She's a geek and doesn't come off like an idiot 21 year old, so I said "what the fuck are you talking about, of course you did." Then as soon as I said that, I realised oh yeah...... she probably didn't...... because when Ned Stark got his head chopped off........ she....... was 11 years old.

That’s exactly what I was going. Small connector with a number on it to verify termination points. It looked like a barcode or something at the time. I also now resort to taking a photo then pinch and zoom if my glasses aren’t near by.

I had my first gut punch feeling about being old a few months ago when I couldn’t read this tiny writing on a piece of material at work. I was on speaker phone with a coworker trying to figure something out and they kept asking for a number on the device and I assured them there was nothing there. My 21 year old apprentice walks by and over hears, leans over and reads out the 8 digits and makes me feel like a dinosaur. I now wear glasses for things like tv and reading.

The glasses thing is a good one. I've always read people saying guys tend to need glasses by age 40. Also the 2000 birthdate cutoff, one quick glance at a license/ID and seeing a pre-2000 birthday is all you need to card someone for anything 21 and over now. Being called sir/mam as well. My hot take though is I've always said you know you're old when you get cold hence the "Who's messing with the thermostat!" meme lol...
