The first one was fun because of the comedy. If they try to make it "real" they lose the whole thing they built up the first time around... I don't want to see another space fight movie action, kill 'em all junk. The "it's us or them" trope is overdone to the point is stinks. How about we move away and grow up and stop romanticizing the US military? Independence Day pretends to represent the whole world... proceeds to be 100% US centrist with US ideals and values.
Anyway. It may be a good popcorn movie where we can point and laugh at the narrow field of view Hollywood has.
