I have a fenix PD35 I have been carrying for almost 7 years, thing has been a workhouse. I love the rechargeable battery. It is bright as shit with 1000 lumens.

I see a newer model with 1700 Lumens, I might snag that, what do you guys carry.

Have a surefire I really like, can't remember name. Same rechargeable battery you probably have, takes regular too. Found a green flip filter that fits perfectly years ago.

For edc at work always just cheap AA mag lite, considered them disposable. Probably went through 20 in my career.

Just like boots, sometimes shit is so contaminated you just don't even bother to try and clean em.... because you'll know what happened no matter how clean you get it.

The first night I came home and stripped naked on the front porch my wife knew not to ask me what happened as I went right to the fire pit with my clothes then to the shower. We did talk later about it, just needed time to unpack some stuff.

I have been using a nitecore HC30 for years, love it. best in-class flashlight of 2015 lol. it also caps at 1000 Lumens. I really should get another, the only problem I have is setting it down in the wrong spot and forgetting so having a second would be great. flashlight is an essential tool

just like boots
I disagree here, though a few exceptions based on what they are used for (pig shit farmer, concrete, immersed in water for long periods). but a good pair of work boots, like from a PNW brand, are damn near BIFL for 95% of people.

no cork, no foam, no poron, just a shit ton of thick leather and you can get decades out of them between resoles and rebuilding them

Jesus do we need a boot thread now?
you have no idea how much time I spend watching boot videos on youtube lol. for a guy that will never build a pair I love watching build videos, resole and rebuild, breakdown, whatever I can find. between that and live edge table videos it probably accounts for 80% of my youtube watching. and I own a pair of Wesco and nicks, and I have gifted a pair of nicks. I am narrowing down my next order as well

After 3 days of trying to decon my boots after they got covered in human brains I adopted the "everything is disposable" model.

I never brought my gear home and I never carried or wore anything I wasn't cool tossing into a red bag.

Good boots took to long to break in and got wrecked too many times.

I started wearing these reebok (I know...) swat boots they made.
$100, felt like air Jordan's, usually got a year out of em unless something happened.

Yeah 100% agree buy disposable when human brains are a work hazard lol

I also agree breaking in good boots is a goddamn chore. Most people who live in boots will never understand, let alone $150/year allowance guy. But assuming human brains isn't a byproduct of the job, it's worth it

Seriously, I'd wear muck boots in that case

I just got (2) PD 25s(discontinued) and 1 LD 30 in the mail today from Fenix.
I also bought an old discontinued PD12 still new in the box last month, I already had one and really like it because it is so compact.

I think I had a PD 35 like yours but it got lost or stolen.

I also have one rechargeable Fenix in my big truck, and also one super powerful floodlight Fenix LK 35

Fenix E12 as well, small and weak

I don't like rechargeable, I prefer lights that use CR 123

I have an edc flashlight that I literally never used because it's a backup in case my head lamps fail, which I use daily. The Fenix headlamp is really good.

Should have added that I always had a headlamp around my neck or on my chest rig when I flew too, so the mag lite was a backup, plus a third light.

My nightime search light is a Fenix LR35R.
I am not brand loyal with flashlights, I think I have at least one from every major brand floating around somewhere.

Another fine Fenix man I see
I’m a fan. I’ve only had good experiences with them. I’ll name a few brands that I have and highlight some notables.

OLIGHT: high value, easiest most convenient charging, not sold on durability. They haven’t failed me yet but they don’t feel as rugged as other brands
STREAMLIGHT: similar thoughts as olight but charging not as convenient. The model(s) that I have, which may be dated, use an older micro usb charging which takes longer and availability might be questionable in the future.
FENIX & SUREFIRE: I’d say tie. They feel rugged and durable, no issues with them, fenix uses usb c charging and easy to operate. I’ll give it a slight ding because the lights I have use a less pleasant white glow, but that is offset by the usb c charging and ease of operation and price point .The surefire has a more pleasant natural light, seems tough, (although I did drop a keychain light and the bezel flew off) but uses the dated micro usb charging although they may have gone away from that. Also priced most premium.

I’ll take some pics later on in the week.
