The next leg of Bellator’s World Heavyweight Grand Prix will be decided in back-to-back days.

A semifinal tournament bout pitting Fedor Emelianenko against Chael Sonnen has been scheduled for Oct. 13 at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, N.Y. The matchup takes place a day after the other half of the bracket, Ryan Bader vs. Matt Mitrione, goes down on Oct. 12 at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.

MMA Fighting confirmed the booking Thursday following an initial report by Newsday.

Emelianenko (37-5, 1 NC), a legendary former Pride FC heavyweight champion, has won six of his past seven fights. He scored a 48-second knockout victory over ex-UFC titleholder Frank Mir in April at Bellator 198 to advance past the grand prix quarter-final.

In total, the 41-year-old Russian is widely considered to be one of the greatest heavyweights to ever compete, and holds victories over notable names Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (x2), Andrei Arlovski, Tim Sylvia, Mark Hunt, and Mirko Cro Cop, among others.

After competing mostly at middleweight and light heavyweight throughout his career, Sonnen (31-15-1) made his heavyweight debut in the opening round of the tournament in January and defeated Quinton Jackson via unanimous decision.

A former three-time UFC title contender, the 41-year-old “American Gangster” also picked up a recent decision win in Bellator over longtime rival Wanderlei Silva in June 2017, giving him back-to-back wins for first time since 2012.

Amazing trip this could be.
Go to one semi-final one night, drive over in the afternoon the next day to catch the other one.
No doubt Bader/Mitrione winner will drive over and meet FEDOR in the cage afterward.

Fedor doesn't deserve having to endure Nassau Colosseum at this point in his career.

I will literally cry if Sonnen manages to dry hump him to a worthless decision.

Not really, I'm not emotionally invested in either guy at this point so don't really care who wins.

But I have a feeling Chael will take the decision.

But I don't bet big on fights anymore. I
ok...so basically your bluff got called and your words are somewhat hollow

Fedor deserves respect IMO

I am of the thinking that is will be hard to hold fedor down, few have accomplished it

Anyone would be foolish to take that bet when odds are out.

What bluff? All I said was I think Chael will win, and in the event that he does, Pride nuthuggers are going to be very sad. There's no bluff there. Just because I'm not confident enough to bet $100 doesn't mean I was "bluffing".

If you name a fight, I will have an opinion on who I think will win. Doesn't mean I'm 100% on anything.

Lay off the pot, it's fucking up your reading comprehension. :D

I agree 100%...but when someone is talking about absolutes(AKA "when Chael wins")
then odds should not matter so I offer a bet

Of course I would not bet a fight at lesser odds than vegas for multiple reasons(welchers, reduced payoff)

Sometimes I get action on an offer such as this one, and sometimes not...it does often draw out a more realistic discussion of the fight(already did in this case)

what does the +9.1% graphic represent in this case?

well you were speaking in absolutes "when chael wins" followed by "will go on suicide watch"

don't blame your exaggerations on my reading comprehension

if you want to discuss a fight no need to exaggerate IMO

Iirc the 9% is how far the odds have moved since opening. I may place a bet on Chael if the odds are close to these come fight day and after seeing them both on the scale.

I don't bet on bookmaker websites anymore but Chael has pulled a shocker before...good luck

In my mind he tastes Fedor's power and wilts, but I thought the same vs Rampage so.
