For the most part, while I agree that having people do jobs like picking up trash would be productive, they already pay people to do that here. Wouldnt want them to lose their job due to cheaper labor. I would rather supplement someone that was working a actual job than supporting them for nothing in return. Unfortunately there is no perfect solution, to the lazy people problem, without going full socialist and telling everyone where to work.
Yeah we have paid cleaners too but there is more than enough work to go around. I think part of the problem is that the long term unemployed have a lack of a productive routine, making them work for benefits would help them establish a productive routine as well as give them a sense of purpose.

The possibilities are endless, how about the government makes them do yard work for the elderly for example?

You could have them do lots of things like that, shovel the sidewalks around schools so they dont have to pay janitors time and a half to do that, have them supervise after school programs so they dont have to pay teachers. Let them be park supervisors, plenty of neighborhood parks and they could spend quality time with their kids.

I find it funny how people bring up transportation or childcare problems when wanting them to pitch in for their benefits, but its fuck them assholes when they have same problems for court ordered community service.

Childcare and transportation are weak excuses, Ive raised my kids on my own for 2 months while the wife was OS visiting family, had a 1 hour commute to and from work and had two drop off/pick up points being preschool and Kindy and managed just fine. It was fucking grueling for the first week then the 3 of us got used to it and it was fine. I also had to use public transport as there is nowhere to park.

Not bragging just saying that people will all manner of lame excuses to get out of working
