The first-ever UFC show in Russia is set to happen as early as September, as the event has already been scheduled in one of the biggest arenas in Moscow, RT Sport has learned from the venue.
Staff at Moscow's Olympiyskiy Stadium (Olympic Stadium), which has a capacity of up to 35,000 spectators, confirmed to RT Sport that a UFC show is booked at the venue for September 14 and 15.

The UFC has yet to announce the news, but the possibility of a show in Russia was first raised by the promotion’s president, Dana White, at a press conference following the UFC 205 event at Madison Square Garden, New York, back in November 2016.

Russia’s most popular fighter, undefeated lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov, who was victorious on the UFC 205 card against Michael Johnson, has long been rumored to headline an event in Russia....

What if: Khabib fights Tony in the spring, and if he wins he fights Conor in Russia. OR Khabib loses, and he fights Tyron Woodley in Russia in September?

(FYI usually when I post something from RT it's coming from Denis Geyko. He's a good follow and pretty good reporter.)

Edit: OR Conor is stripped, and it's Woodley anyway?

UFC has booked Moscow stadium, report says

Officials told ESPN on Friday there is no official event to announce, but confirmed its interest in the market.

"UFC continues to make progress in the Russian market and is actively working on a partnership that could result in the global brand potentially hosting its first-ever event in Russia in 2018," UFC officials said in a statement.

"As standard operating procedure, UFC strategically holds dates with venues around the world in order to continually develop its brand internationally by bringing fight fans world-class events."
