Surya Bonaly, first ever to do a backflip on ice landing on one foot (1994 Olympics)

It was banned in 1977 after Terry Kubicka performed it in the 1976 Olympics.

They banned it because it was too dangerous and Kubicka didn't land on one skate.

Surya Bonaly did it here because she fell earlier in her routine and had no chance for a medal.

I remember there being a controversy over this, IIRC this was during the free skate.

Even though im.just a bear I remember a good podcast on this. I think she was adopted and had to deal with a bunch of bullshit because she was the antithesis of the typical skater.
