the last couple years, i went to the coast for a month. It's not "the heat" that gets you, it's the grind of the heat. It's inescapable, and as it ramps up it's just irritating all the time. But the other 8 months are beautiful
Where is this you're talking about?

Interesting that the parallel to this is the PNW with an inverse ratio, clouds being that which wears on you.
Just about the best summers on planet earth, the whole region from Norcal to B.C.

I lived in PDX for 11 years, but live in PHX now.

loved the weather, hated the government and PDX-people.

used to go skiing at Whistler at least once a year.

I just point the skis downhill and BOMB!!!!

pisses my wife off. I don't turn, I steer.

Whistler is steeeep and wiiiide. Perfect for high-speed suicide.
My lil'est bro worked Stevens Pass every year but did more boarding than anything.
On a break he was standing near the eave outside the restaurant when snowpack slid off the roof & crushed him.
Cracked his vertebrates & never could go back.
In the ambulance he said the morphine was worthless, that much pain.(don't mean to sway off-topic).

my sympathies are muted by the fact that he was a snowboarder.

I prefer the 60s too…but that’s only a few months of “winter” here.

it definitely takes a little acclimation to the heat to function at something active. My mountain biking bros in CO kick my ass when I go visit because of altitude. And then they can barely handle the temps here when they visit. So I take my chance to stomp their asses into the ground when they visit here. And they don’t even visit when it’s hot. They bitch if it’s like 85 degrees lol ….”fuck man, it’s so hot, I’m dying!” lol you pussies!
