Mirko's fight with Gonzaga showed that we dont need every main event or every fight to be a title contender fight.. Mirko's next stop is more than likely Big Nog(assuming Joe Silva isnt a fucking retard), but we are still getting fucking dumb match ups that make hardly any sense; ie, Pettis vs Jury.

Fights that should have been made but werent because of dumb match making:
Pettis vs Nate Diaz
Anderson Silva vs Michael Bisping
Nick Diaz vs Anyone in the 170lb division for fucks sake
Arlovski vs Barnett
115lb womens division fights ffs
etc.. Just blows my mind at what they are doing in the match making department

I cannot disagree with this assertion. I've learned a long time ago that fights just need to be high ENOUGH in talent. After that, just make them competitive matchups and create rules and reffing to push for action.

Good thread Ryann Von Doom @RyannVonDoom. Agree. The ranking system is a joke, so just make fun fights already and been done with it. They're losing fans in records #'s, so you would think the light bulb would have went on months ago.

Mir & Bigfoot fall into the same category as 90% of the UFC's roster. They're not ever going to fight for the title, so might as well put them in exciting match-ups that fans want to see.

thats the beauty of bellator.scott coker doesnt care if it effects the rankings he makes fun fights people want to watch. too bad the ufc can get down with this on the regular. id love to see crocop fight rampage or nick fight bisping hell werdum fight jones even.that was the beauty of pride and strikeforce. if glory could co promote a card with bellator i mite jizz in my pants. we all remember the k1 vs pride rivalry.it was awesome. for some reason the ufc will try to match an exciting striker with a wrestler who will make the fight boring as shit but makes sence in the rankings.theres alot of guys who are never going to be champ on the roster who could bring us some fireworks if they were matched up properly.

UFC is not a 100% sport. Its 50% sport and 50% entertainment. I don't know why they are trying to pretend like rankings even matter. They should have some fun fighters here and there.

I was neutral when it was announced but thought Frank looked good. I also think Mir vs Todd should be pretty good. Does Ryann Von Doom @RyannVonDoom and @Splinty hate Bisping? It might be fun in the same way Guidas most exciting fights are, a one sided beat down on a pretty durable guy. As far as WMMA they really need to step up and get these ladies busy, lots of good match ups to be made.

I'd also love a copromotion and Diaz vs Bisping would be fucking perfect.

yup if they dont let the ladies fight enough to make a living they should have left them in invicta.they deserve better

Yea, the whole premise of the thread just reminds me of PRIDE and Strikeforce. The UFC just refuses to break their formula to make the sport a bit more exciting. The production aspect of the sport has suffered for years. I would love to see the UFC just cut loose and do something fan-friendly like crazy promos and the ramp.

I don't know to be honest. Matchmaking is something I know very little about, but, it can't be easy. Joe and his team (I don't know how many people help him if at all) has done a lot of good work over the years.
