Yeah he is. Just like dustin, knows he has 1-3 fights left to his career, and won't waste it on a dangerous up and comer with little name value.

Gaycheese is coming off a win and wants a title shot, fighting Paddy is a step in the wrong direction unless the UFC would guarantee him a title shot if he beat him. I'm not sure why they'd do that since Fatty just broke into the top 10, but what do I know?
Bowlcut's biggest wins are over guys that were almost 40 at the time and on the downswing of their careers. I think the UFC is being smart building him up on the backs of older fighters. They did the same thing with Jon Jones. I do not think he's ready to win a title fight, yet.

He's not ducking paddy, there's simply nothing to gain by fighting him at this point. Paddy is ranked 9th, Justin isn't going to move up the rankings by beating someone ranked lower than he is, unless the UFC makes some guarantees. Why would anyone risk that? Because "muh fighter"? That's just stupid. Justin probably would have had that attitude as a younger, dumber man, but like you said he's probably only got a handful of fights left, so he needs to make intelligent decisions.
Justin would crush fatty.
Was my take, not that gaethje isn't confident in himself, just that it's a risky fight, he might lose.
