Justin Gaethje's indefinite suspension lasted one day.

Josef Mason, executive director of the Colorado State Boxing Commission, lifted the punishment on Wednesday following a discussion with the World Series of Fighting lightweight champion about the dangers of his actions at WSOF 29. Mason confirmed the news to MMA Fighting following an initial report by MMA Weekly.

Despite being warned not to prior to the event, Gaethje performed his trademark backflip off the top of the cage moments after his first-round TKO victory over Brian Foster. Gaethje was subsequently placed on indefinite suspension for "unsportsmanlike conduct" as a result of the celebration in the CSBC post-event medical suspension report.

Mason told MMA Fighting on Wednesday that the suspension was meant to be a warning to both Gaethje and future fighters in Colorado about the dangers of performing high-flying acrobatics off the cage. Mason stressed that Gaethje's celebration put the safety of not only fighters at risk, but also any state officials and event workers present inside the cage.

According to Mason, the CSBC's plan was always to rescind the suspension once Mason had a chance to explain the situation to Gaethje. After speaking late Tuesday, that promise was kept and Gaethje was medically cleared by the commission.
