Source: USDA recalls more than 89,500 lbs of beef patties that may contain wood pieces

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The US Department of Agriculture issued a recall for more than 89,500 pounds of ground beef patties.

The Food and Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) said Sam's Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion patties produced between November 19, 2015 and December 9, 2015 may contain wood materials.

According to FSIS, the contaminant came in with an ingredient and was discovered during production.

The meat comes in two-pound boxes containing six patties of beef with 19 percent Vidalia onion. The products affected have "use by" dates of May 17, 2016, May 29, 2016, and June 6, 2016.

In addition, all of the products have establishment number 'EST. 394A.' inside the USDA mark of inspection.

FSIS said there are no reports of adverse reactions from these products. Anyone concerned about an illness related to the meat should contact their doctor.

If you bought this product, USDA urges you not to eat the patties. They said you should throw the product away or return it to the place of purchase.

If you have questions about this recall, contact Debbie Green at (618)857-4011.

If you have food safety questions, contact the FSIS virtual representative available 24 hours per day at AskKaren.gov or m.askkaren.gov.

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. ET on Monday through Friday, you can call the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline toll-free at 1-888-MPHotline.

What they've probably done here is added more than the allowed amount of paper as filler.

Mmmmmm.

Paper.

Reason 4,893 not to eat the stuff. The wood chips are the fucking healthiest part! Idiots.

edit: not you guys, the USDA, the meat producers, all of them, they're the idiots.
