Giraffes are pretty gangster for being vegetarians. They'll stomp the shit out of most critters.

When the babies are born mom doesn't lay down... the 4 foot drop is what breaks the umbilical cord, and if that little fucker doesn't immediately get up and start walking they get left for the predators. Mama gives no fucks.

My knowledge of giraffes comes from "volunteering"
I thought I wanted to be a vet when I was a kid. My grandma got me into some kind of Jr buddy program at the zoo. For 2 weeks I got to follow the vet & techs & vollies around. It was awesome. Got to feed frozen horse meat to Tigers, saw a gazelle birth, hose down the elephants, all kinds of cool shit. Including shoveling giraffe shit and getting to hand feed them.
One of the coolest things My very cool grandma got me into.

At the end of summer all the different kids that were in the program got to meet up and have a campout AT the freaking zoo overnight. It was wild, completely different place at night. We were running around with flashlights and animals you never see were up and doing their regular stuff.
One of my favorite memories.

The 70s were wild, lol
