I have no idea what's going on here now. goodness what have I created
Hahahaha seriously! I do love how threads here can start off one place and quickly transport to an alternate universe lol
To answer your original question....
I have mixed feelings about women's mma. I am a fan of watching anyone, male or female, get in there and throw down. However, it has felt very gimmicky to me at times. I think there are truly some great female fighters, just a teeny percentage compared to the pool of male fighters. So, it seems like almost a novelty for much of the fan base. I'm not sure how many new fans jumped on board because women started fighting in the UFC and how many fans really care if the women stay or if they go. I have female friends who are MMA fans first and have enjoyed seeing women in there tearing it up. I think most of them dig it because GIRL POWER!
Like I said, I'm conflicted at times about it. While I love watching Ronda dominate a fight in the moment, at the same time I'm kind of like, ehhh. It's like watching the same team win the championship year after year after year....gets boring. And with the number of female fighters so small, I feel like it's going to be hard to maintain a consistent flow of good match ups. It's just not a broad enough field yet to be THAT exciting for me.
I also kind of felt like it was a joke to award a title to the winner of TUF and then watch her get absolutely obliterated by CHOW-CHAY-CHECK! (sorry
@I Wild Each It, I can't help myself

)
Oh and also, I find most women's fighter "tough" faces comical. To see two chicks in dresses facing off just seems kind of ridiculous to me, I don't know something about it just feels strange ha
Anyhooooo, I hope women's mma grows into a stable, thriving part of the sport...I'm just not sure it actually will.
