Gleison Tibau is no longer on the UFC roster.

The Brazilian veteran, who stepped inside the Octagon 28 times since 2006, will move on to another promotion after the UFC chose not to re-sign the experienced lightweight when his contract expired, Tibau confirmed to MMA Fighting following a report by Ag. Fight.

Tibau compiled a 16-12 record in more than a decade in the UFC, defeating the likes of Rafael dos Anjos, Jeremy Stephens, Caol Uno, Francisco Trinaldo, Pat Healy, Jamie Varner, Norman Parkeand Terry Etim. He has also fought MMA veterans Nick Diaz, Jim Miller, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson....

He says he's gotten lots of offers, including from Rizin to fight Gomi. Also he's going up to welterweight.

I didn't like seeing him get beat up his last few appearances, I mean, I never like seeing someone get beat up in general but it seemed like he had really slowed down and the speed difference just made it seem unsporting.
I hope he retires from fighting and does something better for his long-term health and wellness.

The time off really hurt him. He doesn't look like the same guy, athletically. Much slower, a few steps behind his old form.

Either way he has a great kick of the can in the UFC. Beat a lot of legit guys.

Good luck to him......he was a solid fighter

Also, his name helped shape Leigh’s name to leigh san as i always wanted to call leigh Leighson Tibau but shortened it
