Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy are one entity on Thanksgiving.
On my plate corn and a side of cranberry sauce edges its way in to the one-entity scenario.

THEN there's sides like gb casserole, mac 'n cheese, roasted brussels, cinnamon 'n raisin carrots, yams, dinner rolls.....and other things that can't be assembled on "the mountain".

You madafuckas wanna make real Stove Top Stuffing aka Dressing, I mean the real good shit?

I'll share a little 250 year old recipe for the best all original stuffing / dressing:

Crockpot Dressing:
13 Cups Croutons (1 bag)
2 Beaten Eggs
1 3/4 Cup Chopped Onions
1 Cup Butter
1 1/2 tbsp salt (don't have to use if you don't want)
2 cups Celery
1 1/2 tbsp Sage Thyme
2 1/2 - 3 1/2 cups Chicken Broth (I use 33% less sodium)

Melt butter - sauté onions / celery
Pour over bread crumbs
Add Seasoning / toss
Pour Chicken Broth over bread to moisten
Add beaten eggs + mix together
Pack in Crockpot - put on High 45 Mins
Then turn to Low for 4 to 8 Hours.

Enjoy

Is it mashed potatoes or can those even be considered a “side dish” in the sense that they are an absolute staple to any thanksgiving dinner?

I believe that green bean casserole is the GOAT of any side dish for thanksgiving. What do you think, queefs?
Those are both good choices. I eat a ton of macaroni like 3 of my cousins went to culinary school so we will have like 3 different kinds of ridiculous macs at our thanks giving gatherings. I think the gravy is the most crucial thing if the gravy sucks it lowers the taste of the potatoes and the turkey meat I will usually just smother it in the turkey.

i'm making it tomorrow this year, but I usually do a duck for thanksgiving and make an apple/cranberry/sage/sausage stuffing....just roasted in duck fat for 3 hrs.

I make it in pan, and everybody gets the stuffing that comes out of the pan. I get all the stuffing that comes out of the bird. It's my reward for cooking all day. That, and the jar of duck fat I render.

That sounds amazing.

You Eugenes are funny.

We have one if these once a week. It’s called Sunday Dinner.

Yorkshire puddings are the best accompaniment. But the parsnip runs it close.
are you calling me a "Eugene"?
