Going duck hunting for the first time Sunday morning. TME

And no crying for the innocent animals in this thread. Animals are delicious and I plan on eating anything I shoot.

No, I'm going to use my neighbors pump action Remington this time, if I like it I'll get my own.
Lake Ray Roberts and across the street from my house (Lake lewisville) if they have anymore permits.
Cold and wet doesn't bother me for the amount of time I'll be out. (Texas cold this time of year isn't cold for this yankee.)
Yes I have waders, wool socks, polypropylene under garments.
No camping, a 30 min drive and 30 min hike.

You should be prepared to start a new addiction. It's a great time especially if you are going to a good spot and with someone experienced. I am supposed to go this weekend if I can find the time. Went and got my geese for the season this weekend. Good luck and happy hunting man

For ducks, your neighbor probably has decoys.

Stir up any water your near. Ducks dont believe decoys and crystal clear water

Can make mud ducks. Add piles of mud near decoy to increase shapes. Not needed if neighbor has lots.of decoy.

I know he's got a black lab who's an amazing dog and apparently and awesome bird dog. And I know he has calls (we were just practicing in my front yard) but hasn't said anything about decoys.

Decoys may already be set out if he is an avid hunter. A good dog is always a great addition as well. Damn I have always wanted to go bear hunting though

i live in kelowna bc.there is thousands of canada geese everywhere and they never leave.there is a short season around xmas and another one in feb. most of them are in the city and unshootable.they have a couple dogs that chase them and they have some people that go around shaking their eggs to kill the babies but it is a losing battle.they are a major nuisance and shit all over everything

I can't wait. I'm getting tags for pretty much everything. I'd love to shoot a cook a goose for all the times they shit everywhere and chased me.

I think hunting will be my new thing. I've always wanted to but didn't grow up around it. So I'm pretty excited.
