I'm just using Titleist DCI 762s.
I can hit my irons a long way.

I can hit my driver a long way too, but it doesn't always go straight so it usually stays in the bag.

Just take a vid of the ball flight. The range has markers every 25 yards.

I would need an accurate measurement. The range box is moved daily so that's going to be a 25 yard swing at most ranges. Do you have range finder? You could do it on a hole and walk it off. I would accept that if you kept it rolling camera on the ball with you calling your steps out. Average long stride is a yard.

If you are long and can't hit your driver that means the driver doesn't fit your swing. You should have the same swing through the entire bag with the same accuracy. If you tried to fix your swing with your driver it will effect your iron play if that makes sense.

Lessons and fitted clubs are the way to go.

Most tour pros aren't pros because they can hit it a long way. They are pros because they are accurate as shit and know their distance to the nearest foot.

I swing hard. And I can hit it as far as those guys. But I'm nowhere near as accurate as they are, nor as consistent.

There's a reason the long drive guys aren't on the tour.

Never done a lesson other than taking tips from my cousin who is the pro at a country club. My irons are fitted. Love those DCIs.

That's all mostly true. They are longer than the average golfer though. I have played with crushers who can't break 80. Sure they can boom 1 out of 20 350 down the middle but usually we are looking for their ball in the woods.

How would you like to keep your same swing, hit it just as hard but be a lot more accurate? Fitted clubs will do that and also lessons help out a great deal.

    Just describe the HG fit.

They have you hit your club off a loft and lie board and or use a computer, video with sensors. They check loft, lie shaft length, grip size, shaft stiffness. They have a cart with all kinds of heads with different lies. They have different length shafts with different stiffness. They figure which head will work best and the shafts screw onto the heads to find the right combo. It's like magic when you do a SxS. If you agree to be broke they order the set based on your specs and they are delivered to your fitter in a couple weeks. The fitter goes and checks to makes sure everything checks out. I had my kid fitted when he was 10.

Length based on my height, arm length and stance.

Then spent about an hour or so at the range while the head angle was adjusted for my swing path.

Were they ordered after? Was this just for the irons and not the driver?

    Ordered after they measured length.
Angle was adjusted after they came in.

Just irons. My woods are off the shelf.

Makes sense why you are having driver issues. Sounds like you had a really good fit with your irons. Why not do the same with your woods?

When I got the irons I had a 4 wood and a 6 degree driver that I was crushing. Just figured I'd leave well enough alone.

But the 4 wood broke and for some reason I lost consistency with the driver.

Bought a new one off the shelf and hit it OK, but not consistent enough to rely on. If I was serious about golf I would get a custom fit, but I don't play enough to bother with it.

    I'm a 9 handicap. It's not like I'm competing in tournaments.

I don't carry a 3 wood as I can hit my driver off the deck. I just think you would enjoy it more if you could hit your driver straight. I think I was a 7 when I won my first tourney so you can compete at a 9. (in ammy's)

Right at the take away she has a strong wrist break. She does hold it through the down swing but if she stayed extended to the top and on the downswing she could be banging it. She also doesn't go hard to her left side. You can tell she's athletic and has good fundamentals. She has a lot to work with there.

@Never_Rolled@Never_Rolled Ever go through the process of fitting pre-owned clubs? My Vapors are mint and I don’t really want to buy a new set, so spoke to someone at golfballs.com’s retail store and they said they could fit them. I just don’t know if that’s just length or if they can bend them. I also have a TM R1 and I’m pretty sure I don’t have it tuned correctly.

Fitting has different meanings to different people. Most people aren’t going to reshaft used clubs. Most likely they are going to put a piece of electrical tape on the bottom of the club and have you hit a lie board. They will bend the hosel to get the mark in the center. That isn’t fitting to me but better than nothing. Forged clubs can be bent with little issue. Cast clubs can break when bent and a lot of shops won’t bend them. The shaft to me is just as important as the lie.

If you are married to those heads and money is no issue than by all means reshaft them if that is needed. To me it would be worth it but that’s me.

    Good job Boots!

I hardly ever golf but I love the sport and have friends who have some good golf stories.

Many years ago my old friend was living in East Tx with his rich uncle. Huge land, 3 lakes/ponds, 3 houses all furbished, and a huge garage for all the expensive cars his uncle collected. His uncle was former PGA great Bruce Lietzke. He's got a wiki page showing off his pga accomplishments. As I write this post I'm just now finding out he died last year, RIP.

My dad got a hole in one many years ago. He is 78 but if you ask him, he will tell you the day, the month, the year, the time of day it took place, the course it took place on, the hole it was(13th Walking Stick Pueblo Colorado), and even the wind direction and mph lol

What's crazy is when you get a hole in one, you are supposed to by a round of drinks for EVERYONE, not just your crew you came with but anyone/everyone who is at the clubhouse. I think it's ass backwards and everyone should buy YOU a drink but regardless, my dad said it was the best $500 he ever spent lol.

Damn I didn't know Mr. Lietzke died. I was a big fan of his back in the day. Mr. happy go lucky never practiced. Big car guy too. RIP

They would rip on him because he was the first guy that admitted he played for money like a job. He didn't chase majors.

He was never in town the 3 times I visited his property, but his nephew was my friend and showed off his car collection.

He had a bad ass Shelby like the one Nicolas Cage drove..."Elanor". All his cars were super nice but I wanted to get a picture of myself in the Cobra.

I got in, and the doors of those older muscle cars are heavier than normal so I shut the door with force, and apparently too much force b/c when it closed, the side view mirror broke off and smashed into pieces. I was mortified! Nephew played it off and said "don't worry about it I'll just blame it on one of the mexican's who works there".

I thought that was kinda fucked up but quickly was okay with them taking the blame instead of me lol
