Nelson (15-2-1) rebounded from a one-sided loss to Demian Maia with an impressive rear-naked choke finish of Albert Tumenov at UFC Rotterdam in May. The Icelandic BJJ specialist was scheduled to fight Dong Hyun Kim in the UFC Belfast main event in November, but was pulled from the card after suffering an ankle injury. nelson has the timing accuracy distance mgmt and countering ability to beat jouban; i don't know if he generates enough volume to beat jouban if his chin holds up...

jouban could do what story did, because nelson stance/positioning comes w/key inherent flaws that can be taken advantage of; the issue is jouban isn't some high end wrestler and if he gets taken down its problems, nelson is one of the best grapplers in mma...maybe number two in the ww div in ufc...

This is an intriguing fight. If Gunnar is able to get Alan to the mat, this could be a wrap but if it stays standing, I like Jouban here. Alan looked great last time out against Perry.
