General Had to buy a new washing machine

Old one was a Bosch 500 maxx. Lasted over 12 years but stopped working Monday. A guy came and looked at it this morning and the parts needed to fix are no longer in production. So time for a new one. Washing machines are expensive. I did some research and it seems there are a lot of good models, which makes the decision a little harder. Settled on an Electrolux. I have never heard of the brand prior to this but they seem to be pretty good. This is the model, and it will be delivered Monday. If it lasts 12 years I guess I will be happy. Does anyone have an Electrolux?

I bought a washer/dryer set a while back, ended up with a direct-drive LG.

I know electrolux was a good brand for vacuums, very durable back in the day. I didn't know they made laundry appliances.

I looked at that too. The one was $10 more than the Electrolux. It was close; I would probably be happy either way. Thankfully my dryer is still working. It is the matching one to the Bosch.

i only got the LG because it was on sale, I think I paid just under $1200 for the set after tax.

Had to replace ours several years back, and on recommendation went with the Speed Queen brand. Basic analog controls, no unnecessary digital bullshit. Speed Queen are known for their reliability and so far they've been perfect. We do a ton of laundry and have never had an issue to date. Would buy again.

When they got delivered, the guy was like we love selling this brand because everyone always loves them. But our maintenance/repair crews hate it because they hardly ever have to go fix one

I run a dehumidifier there and it just drains out instead of me having to dump it a couple times a day

I ended up getting the same thing about 7 years ago. I went to a little ma and pop shop in my small town. Asked to see their washers/dryers, he showed me the Speed Queen wash and dryer, I asked to see what else and he said they are only selling that one because they don't like having to service the machines, they'd rather just sell them.

I know this is an old thread, but here's my +1 for LG direct drive models.

My parents bought one 19 years ago. Faultless till last year, then the drum started to become stiff to turn by hand.

I bought a new bearing and seals for about £50 (freely available online), and fixed it in an afternoon.

Been fine ever since.
